Piaget Earl Celebrates Chinese New Year-year Of The Sheep Zodiac Watch

Since 2012, Piaget has launched the Art & Excellence series watches every year to celebrate the Chinese New Year with masterpieces of craftsmanship. The new Altiplano watch in this series uses cloisonné to make dials, and continues to maintain close ties with Asia by paying tribute to the deep culture of Asia.
  Year of the Goat
The Altiplano Year of the Sheep theme enamel watch is a continuation of the Piaget’s first zodiac series with the theme of the Year of the Dragon since 2012. For several years of the Zodiac series, the animals painted on the dial are lifelike, as if in front of eyes. In 2013, a serpentine snake was launched. In 2014, it was a steed that soared in the wind. This year, Altiplano will launch a new work to celebrate the arrival of the Chinese Lunar Year of the Sheep.
Piaget Piaget has always been passionate about handmade art, relying on the professional skills of master craftsmen and craftsmen, has always been proud of many fields. Piaget integrates many ancient techniques into the works, and combines them with the brand’s fine watchmaking tradition and extraordinary creativity to carry forward these techniques. AnitaPorchet, as the world-renowned independent enamel painting artist, is responsible for creating this year’s zodiac series watch, using the gray tone to make the silk enamel dial. These soft grey tones make up the unique style of this annual series with the difference in shades. Numerous details and black and white combinations bring these zodiac signs to life.
  Filament enamel, extraordinary craftsmanship

Enamel is a glass mixed with oxidized metal material, which can bring out endless colors and shades. This technique has been around for a long time and has been used for a long time in jewelry and gold jewelry. After using the traditional enamel method for many years, it was finally carried forward in Geneva in the 18th century and was used to decorate the watch case and dial. Count Piaget is particularly fond of the color and long-lasting gloss created by this unique process, so he uses this prestigious craft in the Art & Excellence series.
The filigree enamel process needs to be processed by the GrandFeu process and fired at a temperature of 820 to 850 degrees Celsius to make the model lasting and ensure the purity of the enamel. From manual grinding and blending of enamel glaze to carefully coloring the gold dial and then repeatedly firing in the kiln, every process requires immense concentration. The last firing process is necessary, because it can make the appearance more perfect, and ensure that the enamel is evenly distributed on the entire surface, which improves the gloss of the finished product.
The Art & Excellence series is inspired by the Chinese zodiac. It is produced with an Altiplano 38mm case combined with a silk enamel process. The silk enamel process makes the color spaces more distinct and ensures that different gray tones are clearly visible. Cloisons are filled with enamel to make the pattern more detailed and vivid. The goat’s posture on the dial is high, and the layered gray and soft mountain background add a sense of peace to the picture.
